Appropriately named, Timbre comes across as quintessentially British Columbian with a modern rustic decor with exposed wood beams and unfinished pine tables. The menu is Canadian as well, with offerings including crab cakes, mussels, salmon burgers, oyster po boy, basalmic slapped BBQ chicken and many more regional, pub dishes. Live music happens regularly, particularly for their Sunday Blue Grass Brunch.
The Elbow Room was started in 1983, and is still going strong after almost 20 years. Breakfast and lunch meals are their specialty. Offering an assortment of hardy breakfast foods such as: eggs, pancakes and omelets, the Elbow Room is also known for the Famous Elbow Room Burgers.
Formerly Browns, this restaurant features a casual decor of dark wood finishings and exposed-brick walls with guests shimmying into black vinyl booths. Two large screen TVs are located at the bar to attract those wanting to watch sports. An upscale casual menu dresses up tried and true comfort classics to feature dishes such as crab macaroni and cheese, lobster wings and British-style prime rib dinner.
Vancouverites wanting a diner-style atmosphere and menu can try Frenchies. With items such as Montreal smoked meat sandwiches and poutine, the restaurant serves French-Canadian fare amongst a 1950s-style decor.
Formerly Sequoia Grill, this restaurant returns to its former three-decades-ago glory. It is once again a traditional tearoom, with all the charm that comes with that. But the menu does retain some modern elements, and pulls in regional ingredients for concoctions like asparagus wild mushroom ragout and wild sockeye salmon. Offering incredible sunset views, it is located at Ferguson Point in Stanley Park. Brunch is served on the weekends. Private function space available.
An upscale restaurant, the decor at Coast seduces patrons with a mosaic-tiled floor and a 24-seat circular bar. Cosy up on a black leather banquette and peruse a lavish menu of decadent seafood offerings like salmon, dungeness crab, swordfish and oysters. For those who prefer turf over surf, steak and poultry dishes are also available. They are open Monday to Friday from 11am to 12am and Saturday to Sunday from 4pm to 12am.
Not only is Eight 1/2 established by some of Vancouver's biggest mover and shakers, its decor was in part designed by Bachelorette reality star, Jillian Harris. Part restaurant, part lounge, the meny is of the tapas variety with dishes like cheese plates and charcuterie, in addition to larger entrees. They are open from 12pm to 12am.
Reminiscent of an actual cafeteria, the truth is that this is the coolest cafeteria to have graced the restaurant scene.
