Athletes have been running this marathon since 1970 and it has become Canada's largest marathon. The mostly flat, paved, scenic course is spectator-friendly and passes near areas such as Kitsilano, Stanley Park, and English Bay. Course marshals and water stations also line the course. The marathon starts at Queen Elizabeth Park and finishes at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

The Arthritis Society is happy to announce that registration for the 8th annual Walk to Fight Arthritis is now open! The Walk will take place in over 30 communities around Canada, 6 of which will be in British Columbia, including Vancouver! The Walk will be held on Sunday, June 4th and the Arthritis Society invites all the residents of participating B.C. communities to join or create a team to show support for those fighting arthritis.

Teams are the heart and soul of the Walk to Fight Arthritis and participating with a team is a fantastic way to have fun with friends and family while raising money for a great cause! To create or join a team, go to Walk to Fight Arthritis website at walktofightarthritis.ca and register now!

The Walk to Fight Arthritis is The Arthritis Society’s marquee fundraising event. The Walk unites those who feel the emotional and physical pain of arthritis in communities across the country to fund a cure and improve the lives of those living with arthritis. The funds raised during the Walk will go towards research into treatments and potential cures, educational materials and informative events provided at no cost, as well as local programs and services to help people with arthritis face specific challenges and live well with arthritis.

Seek the Peak is a 16-km, 4100ft climb up Grouse Mountain. Individual and team entries are available and the route runs from Ambleside Park in West Vancouver to the Peak of Vancouver at Grouse Mountain. Proceeds raised support the BC Cancer Foundation’s lifesaving work in the fight against breast cancer.

Hockey Night in Canada’s Play On! is excited to announce that for the ninth year, Canada’s Official Street Hockey Tournament will visit Coquitlam, BC during the weekend of June 8-9, 2013 on the streets outside Coquitlam Centre. Play On! Vancouver is a team pre-registration event featuring recreational & competitive 4-on-4 street hockey divisions for boys, girls, men, and women of all ages and skill levels. Anyone can play! Each tournament also features a corporate division. Prizes are awarded to winning teams in every division. The event is free to spectators, and features a festival atmosphere that includes food and other vendor exhibits, a celebrity street hockey game, and breakaway skills competition. Regular Season Games for the 300+ teams expected to play in the tournament run Saturday June 8 from 8:00am – 8:00pm on each of the rinks being utilized. Playoffs begin on all rinks on Sunday June 9 at 8am, with quarter, semis, and finals action in all age divisions happening between 11am and 5pm that day. As part of the program’s TENTH anniversary celebrations we are attempting to set the RECORD for the WORLD'S LARGEST STREET HOCKEY TOURNAMENT. The record setting attempt will include the total number of participants across 20 regional events nationwide in the spring/summer and will culminate with a National Championship event in the fall.
